Figuration

Interactive Light and Sound Installation Celebrating Human Movement

Figuration is an interactive installation illuminating the human body through light and sound. Using custom-built software and a stereoscopic, live camera, the public is invited to interact with the piece as their movements are realized in real-time on a large display integrated into a landscape. The camera sees depth and finds human silhouettes, then displays the silhouettes - in various colors, filters, and animations - on the screen. Encouraging social interaction and play, FIGURATION, is accessible by any shape, color, size, or ability level.

Enhancing the visual experience are a catalogue of sonic realizations of the movements. When the body moves, twists, reaches, and hops, they trigger a specific set of sounds and drum beats, creating a one-of-a-kind score.
